Damaged Chestplate is a Diamond Chestplate class-loot reward from The Knight’s Castle. You can receive it through the Guard loot selection tied to Ser Prancelot, Arcane Knight, Brave Knight, and Cowardly Knight.
“Offers almost no protection.”
Its name and story fit the ruined garrison, but its practical value comes down to what you actually receive. This is a class-selected item, not a separate guaranteed drop from every enemy.

Class Loot
Damaged Chestplate is class loot. It has no fixed stats: its enchantments are rolled every time it drops, so no two copies are exactly alike, and harder difficulties allow higher enchantment levels. When a mob drops class loot, each player who wins the drop roll gets one item from that mob’s class loot pool, weighted toward their class.
Dropped as class loot by:
- Ser Prancelot (miniboss): 25% chance per player who dealt at least 10% of the mob’s health
- Arcane Knight, Brave Knight, Cowardly Knight (regular mobs): 5% chance per player who dealt at least 10% of the mob’s health
Possible Enchantments
The levels below are the most each enchantment can roll. Each drop receives about half of the listed levels at random, so most copies land below these maximums. The chance shows how often an enchantment appears at all.
From minibosses:
| Difficulty | Possible Enchantments |
|---|---|
| Normal | Protection up to III (always) Unbreaking up to II (25%) Fire Protection up to II (20%) Blast Protection up to II (25%) Projectile Protection up to III (60%) Thorns up to III (30%) |
| Hard | Protection up to IV (always) Unbreaking up to III (25%) Fire Protection up to III (20%) Blast Protection up to III (25%) Projectile Protection up to IV (60%) |
| Mythic | Protection up to VI (always) Unbreaking up to IV (20%) Fire Protection up to V (20%) Blast Protection up to IV (25%) Projectile Protection up to IV (50%) |
From regular mobs:
| Difficulty | Possible Enchantments |
|---|---|
| Normal | Protection up to II (always) Unbreaking up to I (15%) Blast Protection up to II (25%) Projectile Protection up to II (30%) |
| Hard | Protection up to III (always) Unbreaking up to II (15%) Blast Protection up to III (25%) Projectile Protection up to III (30%) |
| Mythic | Protection up to IV (always) Unbreaking up to III (15%) Blast Protection up to IV (25%) Projectile Protection up to IV (30%) |
Difficulty Scaling
| Difficulty | Level Sync | Loot Perspective |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | +5 | Higher level sync; class-selected Guard reward |
| Hard | +0 | No level-sync adjustment; class-selected Guard reward |
| Mythic | -5 | Lower level sync; higher enchantment potential for class loot |
All four Guard-loot sources are available across Normal, Hard, and Mythic. The dungeon adjusts level sync by difficulty; that does not turn this class-loot entry into a guaranteed individual drop.
How to Farm It
The Guard reward pool has four named sources, but their fights are not the same. Pick a repeatable encounter instead of assuming one enemy gives a better chance at this exact named item.
| Enemy | What to Watch For |
|---|---|
| Arcane Knight | Plasma shot every 4 seconds while in combat; shield walls can absorb damage; arrow attacks and Blindness on hit |
| Brave Knight | Vacuum pulls targets close; Web traps players for 3 seconds and boosts the knight’s speed |
| Cowardly Knight | Homing arrow every 3 seconds while targeting players; Poison I and push on hit |
| Ser Prancelot | Wither and Freeze on hit; summons guards in its second phase below 50% health |
Is It Worth It?
The flavor text is blunt, but it is flavor text, not a measured defense statistic. Damaged Chestplate is a Diamond Chestplate in the Guard class-loot table; its exact enchantment roll is what deserves inspection.
Compare it with Forlorn Surcoat first, because both are Guard Diamond Chestplates. They come from the same pool and offer the same item-slot choice, with no fixed per-item enchantments stated here.
The more decisive comparison is Ordained Armor, Charlemagne’s unique Netherite Chestplate. That item has Protection V, Fire Protection V, Unbreaking V, and Resistance I when you land a hit, but its drop chance is 5%.
Do not confuse the two reward routes. Ordained Armor comes from Charlemagne’s final phase, while Damaged Chestplate is selected through Guard class loot from four different opponents.
Arcane Knight can blind you for three seconds on a successful hit. It also fires arrows every eight seconds at eligible nearby players after acquiring a target, so drifting through the fight without checking your position is asking for trouble.
Brave Knight is built around close-range control. Vacuum pulls players toward it, while Web places a temporary cobweb on the victim and gives the knight a brief Speed III boost.
Cowardly Knight is the ranged alternative, using homing arrows, Poison I on hit, and a push effect. If that combination keeps catching you, consider whether fighting another Guard-loot source is easier for your group.
Ser Prancelot offers the miniboss route. At half health it moves to a second phase that summons guards, and its freeze effect can leave you stuck in packed ice.
There is no reason to treat the item’s gloomy description as a promise of a weak loot roll. Judge the chestplate you actually receive, then decide whether you want to chase Ordained Armor’s known Resistance effect instead.
A good comparison keeps certainty separate from possibility. Damaged Chestplate is class equipment with variable enchantments; Ordained Armor is a named unique item with explicit enchantments and an on-hit effect.
Is It Worth It
Its main enchantment is Protection, which can reach III on Normal, IV on Hard and VI on Mythic when it drops from a miniboss. If you want this piece at its strongest, Mythic is the run to farm. Since every copy is rolled, two drops from the same difficulty can still differ, so check each one against what you are already using.
