A Blaze Rod with a courtly name is easy to mistake for an ordinary bit of dungeon decoration. Page’s Candle is instead one of the named Guard class-loot rewards from The Knight’s Castle.
“A court magician forgot it beside his books.” The line gives the item some history, but the reward itself comes from the castle guards and their miniboss, not from the Royal class-loot selection.
The name and material make this a natural companion to Azaroon Seal, the Royal Blaze Rod. They belong to different class-loot tables, so the two items call for different targets even though they share a material.

Where to Get It
| Dropped By | Chance | Difficulty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ser Prancelot | Selected from Guard table | Normal, Hard, Mythic | The Knights Castle Guard Class Loot |
| Arcane Knight | Selected from Guard table | Normal, Hard, Mythic | The Knights Castle Guard Class Loot |
| Brave Knight | Selected from Guard table | Normal, Hard, Mythic | The Knights Castle Guard Class Loot |
| Cowardly Knight | Selected from Guard table | Normal, Hard, Mythic | The Knights Castle Guard Class Loot |
These four mobs draw from the Guard class-loot table, but they do not have identical encounters. Ser Prancelot is a two-phase miniboss; Arcane Knight, Brave Knight, and Cowardly Knight are regular castle mobs. That gives you several routes to the same item pool.
Class Loot
Page’s Candle is class loot. It has no fixed stats: its enchantments are rolled every time it drops, so no two copies are exactly alike, and harder difficulties allow higher enchantment levels. When a mob drops class loot, each player who wins the drop roll gets one item from that mob’s class loot pool, weighted toward their class.
Dropped as class loot by:
- Ser Prancelot (miniboss): 25% chance per player who dealt at least 10% of the mob’s health
- Arcane Knight, Brave Knight, Cowardly Knight (regular mobs): 5% chance per player who dealt at least 10% of the mob’s health
Possible Enchantments
The levels below are the most each enchantment can roll. Each drop receives about half of the listed levels at random, so most copies land below these maximums. The chance shows how often an enchantment appears at all.
From minibosses:
| Difficulty | Possible Enchantments |
|---|---|
| Normal | Power up to III (always) Unbreaking up to II (60%) Multicast up to I (25%) |
| Hard | Power up to III (always) Unbreaking up to IV (60%) Multicast up to II (25%) |
| Mythic | Power up to IV (always) Unbreaking up to IV (60%) Multicast up to II (25%) |
From regular mobs:
| Difficulty | Possible Enchantments |
|---|---|
| Normal | Power up to II (always) Unbreaking up to II (50%) Multicast up to I (10%) |
| Hard | Power up to III (always) Unbreaking up to II (50%) Multicast up to II (10%) |
| Mythic | Power up to IV (always) Unbreaking up to III (55%) Multicast up to II (10%) |
Difficulty and Reward Planning
Normal uses level sync +5, Hard uses +0, and Mythic uses -5. These settings change the level relationship for the run; they do not make this class-loot item a separate named version.
Harder difficulties allow higher enchantment levels for class loot, so Mythic is the run to target if you are hunting the strongest roll. The item remains Blaze Rod on all three settings; its name, class-loot source, and non-soulbound status stay the same.
How This Item Fits
Treat it as a class-selected Blaze Rod reward rather than assuming it casts a spell, heals allies, or inflicts a status effect. The name is flavor; the useful decision is where to earn the item and which run to repeat.
Azaroon Seal comes from Charlemagne’s Royal table. Page’s Candle comes from the Guard table used by Ser Prancelot and three regular castle enemies. If you’re chasing this specific name, clearing the final boss is not the same loot route.
Farming the Castle Guards
Arcane Knight is the most relevant thematic match, but the reward is not exclusive to that enemy. Its shield walls can appear on a 10% hit-trigger with a 60-second cooldown, and its plasma shot fires every four seconds in combat. Break through or wait out the shield walls instead of keeping up a careless attack rhythm.
Arcane Knight also fires arrows every eight seconds at players within 20 blocks once it has a target, and can Blind players for three seconds when it hits. Make target selection and sight lines your priority rather than treating this as a harmless staff-carrying guard.
A repeatable approach is to choose the enemy whose attacks you handle most reliably and focus on its Guard-table rewards. The item pool is shared, so there is no need to pretend that one regular knight secretly has exclusive ownership of Page's Candle.
Is It Worth It?
Worth hunting if Page’s Candle is the class reward you want; a Royal Blaze Rod is not a direct replacement for a named Guard-table reward. Judge the copy you actually obtain by its rolled enchantments, rather than assuming the decorative name guarantees a particular magical effect.
If your goal is a specific named Guard reward, stay with the Guard loot sources instead of switching to the Royal table and hoping the names overlap. Keep the difficulty-dependent enchantment roll separate from a unique item’s explicit, fixed powers when comparing equipment.
Is It Worth It
Its main enchantment is Power, which can reach III on Normal, III on Hard and IV on Mythic when it drops from a miniboss. If you want this piece at its strongest, Mythic is the run to farm. Since every copy is rolled, two drops from the same difficulty can still differ, so check each one against what you are already using.
