The Scepter of the Empty Hall is a Wooden Spear from The Knight’s Castle, obtained through Charlemagne’s Royal class loot. It is a royal reward with a strangely humble material: wood, not the diamond used for Bannerless Lance.
Its flavor text reads, ‘The courtiers left it standing beside the throne.’ That is a fitting image for this castle. The grand furniture survived, but the people who were supposed to use it did not.
Do not mistake its Royal status for a promise that it performs like Knight’s Honor. One is a class-selected Wooden Spear; the other is a separate Netherite Spear with fixed, powerful enchantments and an on-hit Wither effect.

Where to Get It
| Dropped By | Chance | Difficulty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charlemagne | 100% table entry; one class-selected Royal item per player | Normal, Hard, Mythic | Royal class loot from the final phase; not a guaranteed individual item |
The Knight’s Castle has Normal, Hard, and Mythic settings with level sync +5, +0, and -5 respectively. The Royal class-loot table is tied to Charlemagne’s final phase, so the path to this reward always runs through the full boss encounter.
The reward comes from Charlemagne’s fourth phase, not from the first three phases of the fight. Getting through the early stages is part of the cost: his fight changes at 80%, 50%, and 30% health, and the final phase carries the Royal class-loot selection.
At the 80% transition, Charlemagne gains healer summons. Azaroon Healers channel healing to damaged elites, so leaving them untouched can stretch out the fight long before you reach the reward stage.
At 50%, the fight adds a dome-arena script alongside fire and arrow attacks. At 30%, the final phase introduces Hellstar summons and Arrow Rain, which can blanket a roughly 30-by-30 area with arrows for ten seconds after the attack triggers.
You are not farming this item by defeating Hellstar or by picking off a healer. Those are encounter mechanics, while Charlemagne’s Royal class-loot award comes from the boss’s final phase.
Class Loot
Scepter of the Empty Hall is class loot. It has no fixed stats: its enchantments are rolled every time it drops, so no two copies are exactly alike, and harder difficulties allow higher enchantment levels. When a mob drops class loot, each player who wins the drop roll gets one item from that mob’s class loot pool, weighted toward their class.
Dropped as class loot by:
- Charlemagne (boss): 100% chance per player who dealt at least 10% of the mob’s health
Possible Enchantments
The levels below are the most each enchantment can roll. Each drop receives about half of the listed levels at random, so most copies land below these maximums. The chance shows how often an enchantment appears at all.
| Difficulty | Possible Enchantments |
|---|---|
| Normal | Power up to IV (always) Unbreaking up to III (80%) Mending up to I (10%) Blast Radius up to I (40%) Ignition up to I (40%) |
| Hard | Power up to V (always) Unbreaking up to IV (90%) Mending up to I (15%) Blast Radius up to II (40%) Ignition up to II (40%) |
| Mythic | Power up to VII (always) Unbreaking up to V (90%) Mending up to I (15%) Blast Radius up to III (40%) Ignition up to III (40%) |
Is It Worth It?
The main reason to keep Scepter of the Empty Hall is that it offers a Wooden Spear option within Charlemagne’s Royal rewards. Its material and role are different from Bannerless Lance, the Diamond Spear in the same table, so compare the actual copy you receive rather than assuming both spears behave alike.
It also differs from Knight’s Honor in a more important way. Knight’s Honor is a 2% unique drop with Sharpness X, Impaling V, Piercing IV, Unbreaking V, and Wither I when you hit; Scepter of the Empty Hall is awarded through class-loot selection, not that unique-drop roll.
Higher difficulties allow stronger enchantment rolls on class loot, making Mythic the sensible target when you want the strongest possible copy of this Scepter. That does not turn a Wooden Spear into a Netherite Spear, and it does not guarantee that this particular item will be the one chosen for you.
Is It Worth It
Its main enchantment is Power, which can reach IV on Normal, V on Hard and VII on Mythic when it drops from a boss. If you want this piece at its strongest, Mythic is the run to farm. Since every copy is rolled, two drops from the same difficulty can still differ, so check each one against what you are already using.
