Gnomes Bones is a Wither Skeleton miniboss in The Catacombs that fights with a bow. It has 2.8× health multiplier, 0.33× damage multiplier, a 48 follow distance, and enough movement control to make a clean fight turn messy.
Its homing arrows target players within 20 blocks, it spawns with long-lasting Speed II, and a successful hit can trigger Taze. The numbers are not subtle about what this mob wants: stay mobile, or it will make that decision for you.

How to Beat It
Within 20 blocks, Gnomes Bones can send homing arrows every 3 seconds, and those arrows can keep tracking for up to 60 seconds. Its Speed II lasts effectively the whole fight, so standing still and hoping the skeleton forgets about you is not much of a strategy.
A hit can also trigger three Taze jolts, each adding Slowness VI for 1.5 seconds. Giving yourself room before that happens is much easier than trying to recover after your movement gets chopped into pieces.
